Leading to Learn: Accelerate Learning by Leading with Intention

Katie Anderson

Tell Me More...

Being a successful KATAlyst to accelerate learning in your organization – as a leader or coach – requires skills in navigating continuums between providing challenge and support, advocacy and inquiry, and content expertise and coaching. In this 2-hour experiential session, you will explore how the Leading to Learn Framework of setting direction, providing support, and developing yourself is the foundation for the Toyota Kata. You will introduced to and practice tangible skills to help you navigate leadership continuums to most effectively lead with intention to help others learn You will explore how to provide challenge and support, how to move between directive and open coaching, and the unconscious habits can impede leaders and coaches in helping their learners stay in the learning zone. You will practice the critical skills of asking, listening, and providing evidence of practice as you practice the key roles of the chain of learning: problem owner, first coach, and second coach.

Leading Change with Toyota Kata

Mark Rosenthal

Tell Me More...

In the course of our work as change agents the more difficult work involves going beyond technical process changes. We often must find ways to alter the default ways leader and influencers interact with one another. This involves careful listening, clear communication, and reaching agreements to try something different. In this session, we will show how this kind of leadership follows the same pattern as the improvement Kaya and practice some approaches to develop leadership conversations as experiments.
