Implementing TWI at the World’s Largest Privately-owned Winery

Session Abstract:

E & J. Gallo Winery is a family-owned company with a mission of being a leader in the U.S. wine industry and the leading provider of California wines in select markets around the world.

Prior to 2017, there was no formal training presence or structure at the Fresno Winery (FRW).  Newly hired employees would “Job Shadow” their counterpart and learn based off senior employee’s expertise experience rather than the existing Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP’s) used at the facility.  This led to an operating deviation of front-line employees handling machinery and equipment throughout each shift.  A dedicated and highly professional team was established to meet the business needs of developing and standardizing training programs and practices by using TWI JI, to drive significant improvements in training quality and effectiveness.

About the Facilitator: 

Rachapol Lamee received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Cameron University and his Master of Arts in Management from Webster University. During his 20 years of military service, he spent a majority of career within the Army Training and Doctrine command where he oversaw training in all aspects of leadership levels.  Upon retiring from the military, he served at California State University, Fresno as an Associate Professor and as a Scholarship Director for five years and is now the Industrial Training and Education Manager for the E. & J. Gallo Winery, Fresno production facility, one of the world’s largest wineries.

Jennie Solorio is a training and development specialist with over thirty years of experience providing outstanding programs for hundreds of managers and employees.  Jennie is known for her ability to design and implement programs that take employees to the next level in their professional life.   With extensive experience creating programs, Jennie has delivered career workshops which include Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring, Corporate Staffing, Teamwork, Sales Techniques, Customer Service, Presentation Skills, as well as helping to create and manage a New Hire program for a Fortune 500 company.  Jennie has delivered a wide variety of management and professional development workshops that met the organization’s retention rate and improved leadership development.

Jennie is a certified TWI Institute trainer, has earned her Lean Six Sigma certification, and has a master’s degree in Education specializing in Instructional Design & Technology.

Jenna Cervantez has a broad background in Management, Training and Development. Jenna started her professional career at Target, working her way to leading 250 employees as a Store Team Leader. Her experience at Target with training and development, influenced her to complete her Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. At the completion of her Master’s, she began her training career in various ventures from a start-up behavioral health rehabilitation company to developing a robust training program at Herbalife Manufacturing. Jenna’s passion for training and development has now led her to a Training Specialist role at E&J Gallo Winery, where she develops and executes various training styles and methods to best suit company needs.
