This workshop uses the world-class simulation created BY Toyota to teach the Toyota Production System to GM employees during the NUMMI years (joint venture between Toyota and GM). It’s complex, chaotic at times, with production pressures, allowing you to experience how Job Instruction can be practiced in the flow of production. Learning Objective of Skillpoint for Job Instruction
Creating a culture of continuous improvement is a struggle for many organizations. Skillpoint for the Job Instruction will teach the “skill” of the breaking down jobs and training others in a hands-on, learn-by-doing environment practicing the application. Gaining knowledge, and especially direct experience, is critical to the success of building a culture through the practice of continuous improvement.
You will be taught, coached, and trained by seasoned trainers on the skill of Job Instruction through a series of presentations and practice sessions to identify, and hone-in on, the JI skills. The Skillpoint Workshop combines training sessions with practice sessions. Skillpoint for Job Instruction will teach this skill, in part, through many practice iterations on the Skillpoint simulator (see below for details). Participants will leave with experience and confidence to utilize Job Instruction to go instruct, improve, and standardize in their own organizations.

The workshop is designed, delivered, and supported through a partnership between Lean Frontiers, the TWI Institute, and the Center for Employee Development. This partnership brings experience in focused lean training, solid instructional methodologies, and first-hand experience working with Toyota.
